Newcastle United forward Adam Armstrong has labelled manager Rafael Benitez a ‘tactical genius’.

The striker, who is currently on a six-month loan deal with Bolton Wanderers, praised Benitez whilst discussing his time at the Macron Stadium.

Armstrong opened his account for the Trotters last month, but has found himself deployed primarily in a left-wing role for Bolton during his 18 Championship appearances so far.

When discussing the impact Phil Parkinson has had during his spell with the Championship side, he too was full of praise for Benitez.

“Rafa is a brilliant manager who has worked with some of the best players in the world,” Armstrong told Bolton’s official matchday programme.

“He’s just got a presence when he is stood in front of you, you can’t help but be taken in by.

“He’s a tactical genius and I see a lot of him in the gaffer here.” he contiued referring to Bolton boss Parkinson.

“There really isn’t too much of a difference in terms of their management styles and, having worked under him for a few months now, I’m loving it.”
