Real Sociedad will not allow goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli to leave the club mid way through the season, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalan newspaper says the La Liga club are likely to sell the Argentine at some point in the future, but they will not do so in the January transfer window. The Sun had reported that Rulli was one of two goalkeepers that Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez had received glowing reports about from his scouts.

The 25 year old stopper only signed from Manchester City for €7m last January after spending two and a half years on loan at Sociedad. He has begun this season in good form in La Liga, leading to rumours about a possible departure from the Spanish side.

It does seem as though a £15m move in January for Rulli is out of the question for the Magpies. The Sun‘s report also mentioned Galatasaray’s Fernando Muslera, and it could be the case that Newcastle will keep monitoring the Uruguayan international instead in view to a January bid.
