Newcastle United have impressed in their return to the Premier League but they’ve lack a reliable scorer in front of goal, with their striking quota struggling with a number of issues so far in this season.

£5m summer signing Joselu is currently the side’s top-scorer with two goals, tied with captain Jamaal Lascelles, and the jury remains out on the Spaniard for many of the fans. However, Newcastle haven’t been able to find competition.

Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has struggled to find his place in the side since serving a suspension earlier this season, whilst last year’s top-scorer Dwight Gayle is yet to find the net in the league this season and doesn’t look too capable.

That leaves Newcastle in a sticky situation, as they’re heavily reliant on Joselu until their other forwards can find their feet, but the former Stoke City man has been inconsistent in front of goal- regularly missing the target.

The striker seemed to be in good spirits ahead of this weekend’s clash with Crystal Palace, posting a picture on social media that showed him ‘aiming’ for the target, and fans were split in their responses.

Whilst some were optimistic ahead of the game and tipped him to score, others want him to start getting the basics right first.
