Newcastle United have impressed in the Premier League so far, securing 11 points from the opening eight matches, but Rafael Benitez’ side still have plenty of work to do before the end of the campaign.
One of Benitez’ major concerns may be the lack of reliability in front of goal, with current top-scorer Joselu netting just twice, Aleksandar Mitrovic struggling to find his feet following an early suspension and Dwight Gayle so far failing to adjust to top-flight football.
That could leave a striker as Benitez’ number one priority in January, particularly if a completed takeover hands him funds to splash in the market, and fans have been discussing the rumours surrounding proposed January activity on social media.
Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun has been heavily linked with a move to Tyneside and caught the eye again this week in the Champions League by scoring a brace, taking his tally to three goals in as many games and helping the Turkish outfit push towards qualification for the latter stages of the tournament.
Newcastle would certainly have to pay a pretty price to snatch the player away from the Champions League regulars but the funds potentially becoming available could make it happen- and fans believe he’d be the perfect fit.
