Newcastle United striker Joselu says he is relieved to get back amongst the goals following his strike against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

The Spaniard netted the Magpies equaliser late in the second half after finding himself through on goal, sliding the ball rather fortunately past Simon Mignolet in the Liverpool goal to double his tally for the season.

Having struggled in front of goal in recent weeks, the striker says it was great to find his goalscoring touch again and his stroke of good luck was just what he needed.

“I am very happy because in the last two games I had good chances to score.” he told NUFC TV.

“Football is like that. Now I came back with a goal and I am happy. But I am happier because it got us a point for the team.”

Joselu’s only other goal in Black and White came against West Ham in an impressive 3-0 win. His second strike of the season secured a vital point for Rafael Benitez’s side, taking them to double figures for the season already after only 7 games.

“I only thought about keeping it to one side of the keeper. It was lucky goal but a goal is a goal and it got us a point.”
