Newcastle United have started the season well and it gives encouragement to the players within the squad who have aspirations of making their national side, including a number who’ll be looking to impress England boss Gareth Southgate.
Southgate has shown in the past year that he’s not afraid to call-up players from the ‘lesser’ clubs in the Premier League, shown by Michael Keane’s rise to the international stage during his time with Burnley, and Newcastle will have hope of having their own players starring for the Three Lions.
In a World Cup year, the battle for places in the international set-up is more challenging than ever and there are less chances for players to make an impression. However, a reform will likely be underway after next summer’s tournament in Russia and Newcastle’s England men will hope to find themselves near the front of the queue.
