Newcastle United’s preparations for the new Premier League has now led them over to Germany and today they square off against Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg.
Looking to improve on the recent 2-1 loss at Mainz, Rafa Benitez’s side are getting into gear ahead of Tottenham’s visit to St. James’ Park in 11 days time by squaring off against Die Wölfe at the AOK Stadium.
Indeed, it seems the Toon Army are getting into shape quite well. Racing into a first-half lead, Aleksandar Mitrovic and a stunning Matt Ritchie free-kick saw the away side go into the break 2-0 up.
While the Serbian striker has it all prove, Ritchie played a huge part in the club’s promotion from the second tier and his set-piece expertise was once again on show over in Germany.

It’s shaping up a tough campaign on Tyneside and few would doubt Ritchie’s importance to the black and white cause.
