With Paul Dummett out of Newcastle United’s trip to Huddersfield Town this weekend, Rafa Benitez has a slight headache at left-back.

The berth was barely the most well-stocked position on Tyneside prior to the Welshman’s hamstring injury, so the fact he’ll be missing against a Terriers side coming off the back of a big win is a huge blow.

Ciaran Clark deputised there after his teammate was taken off within the first 10 minutes against Tottenham Hotpsur, though there are options available to Rafa Benitez, even if none are particularly long-term ones.

Indeed, we recently asked our readers who they’d like to see handed a chance in West Yorkshire on Sunday.

Clark was given as an option, along with the prospect of deploying Christian Atsu as a left wing-back and even a return for the outcast Massaido Haidara. However, one man came out on top with 55% of the vote.

Jesus Gamez, who could feasibly line up in that role (despite predominantly being a right-back), has had to wait for his chance in black and white, though does a boast a huge amount of experience.

The former Atletico Madrid man looks to be the favourite here.
