According to Spanish outlet MarcaNewcastle United have made inquiries for TWO Real Madrid players this summer.

Indeed, Rafa Benitez previously managed Los Blancos prior to his arrival on Tyneside and is said to have made approaches for both Lucas Vasquez and Kiko Casilla.

The pair have picked up two Champions League medals a piece in the last few seasons, as well as playing a part in Zinedine Zidane’s La Liga winning campaign. While neither are definite fixtures in the starting line up, interest from St. James’ Park is believed to have been rebuffed by those in the Spanish capital.

After a difficult summer window for the Magpies, seeing either arrive from the best squad of players in the world would have been a major boost. Vasquez, particularly, would have been a major coup, though would surely be far too expensive at the moment.

Real need a big squad to challenge on all fronts, so are thought to have snubbed advances from other clubs too.
