According to Tutto Mercato Web, Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez is keen on bringing Inter Milan forward Stevan Jovetic to the club.

Though the Magpies recently brought in Stoke City striker Joselu in order to bolster their front line, the report claims former Manchester City marksman Jovetic is of interest on Tyneside.

Indeed, the Montenegrin has struggled to wholly convince since leaving Fiorentina for the Etihad in the summer of 2013, not being able to force his way into the first-team at either City or at the San Siro.

Still, few would doubt the fact that he’d be a huge upgrade on the options currently available to Benitez at St. James’ Park. The 27-year-old won the Premier League during his time with the Sky Blues and, despite notching just 8 times in two seasons, has proved prolific with the likes of Fiorentina and Sevilla.

The Nerazzurri are understood to value him at around €14m -roughly £12.79m – though Jovetic himself is believed to want to wait until he knows how he fits into the plans at the San Siro.
