Diego Rolan has stalled on his transfer to Fulham leaving the door open for a late bid from Newcastle.

According to a report in The Chronicle the transfer of the Bordeaux striker has been held up amid claims that he is looking for a move to a Premier League club.

Rolan scored nine goals from 19 league starts last season which was his sixth with Bordeaux since moving from Uruguay.

Newcastle scouted the 24-year-old last season but had other striking options to consider. The failure to complete those deals has caused concern with Rolan rising up the wanted lost as the clock ticks towards the start of the Premier League season.

With Rafa Benitez describing the transfer market as crazy the reported £5m fee for Rolan represents decent value.

The striker has twice visited Fulham’s training ground but his failure to complete the deal has sparked concerns that he is using the club to get a move elsewhere.
