Norwich are refusing to be strong armed into selling Jacob Murphy to Newcastle.

According to a report in The Chronicle the Championship side won’t be forced into a allowing the England u-21 internationalist to leave.

Yesterday the story seemed to move at a pace, after it emerged that Murphy was keen on the transfer it was reported that Newcastle had made a £10m take it or leave it offer.

Norwich are in no rush to do business and refused to react to that ultimatum despite pressure from the players’ agent.

After failing to win promotion Norwich made a number of cuts to bring their wage bill in line with Championship income, having come through the ranks Murphy isn’t among the high earners still at the club.

Newcastle are continuing to look at other options to fill the position with Rafa Benitez’s side starting their pre-season preparations tonight away to Hearts.
