Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Peter Gulacsi.

According to a report on ESPN the RB Leipzig keeper is back in the thoughts of Rafa Benitez who took the Hungarian internationalist to Liverpool in 2008.

Gulacsi switched from RB Salzburg to the German version two seasons ago and played a major role in clinching a Champions League place for next season.

Benitez has been looking far and wide for a keeper with efforts to sign Joe Hart, Willy Caballero and Pepe Reina failing to progress.

Gulkacsi spent time on loan at Hull City, Tranmere Rovers and Hereford United while he was at Liverpool and would welcome the chance to work again with his old Anfield boss.

The 27 year old has two seasons left on his Leipzig contract but despite the prospect of playing in the Champions League the Benitez connection could convince the keeper that his future lies in Newcastle.
