Newcastle look like missing out on Ismaila Sarr to Rennes.
According to a report on TalkSPORT the Metz striker held talks with Rennes over the weekend and is waiting on the two clubs agreeing a £13.5m deal.
Sarr made a huge impression when he broke into the Metz side with his five goals drawing comparisons with Sadio Mane.
That form brought him to the attention of Newcastle scouts with a report in the region of £10.5m submitted last month.
Now it seems that the 19 year old has decided to continue his career in France with Rennes happy to make them their first choice striker.
After missing out on Tammy Abraham and selling Daryl Murphy to Nottingham Forest Newcastle are light of options in attack.
Bringing in a striker and a goalkeeper are the priority areas for Rafa Benitez to address but it looks highly unlikely that Sarr will be coming to St James’ Park.
