Newcastle are prepared to play the long game to reunite the Murphy brothers- Jacob and Josh.

According to a report in The Mirror Newcastle will keep an eye on Josh this season and could come back in with an offer next summer.

Earlier this month Newcastle paid £12.5m for Jacob with Rafa Benitez admitting that he had files on both brothers who come from a Newcastle supporting family.

While Jacob had an outstanding season in the Championship it took Josh longer to warm up but he ended the campaign with two goals in his last four appearances.

It’s believed that Newcastle are paying Jacob £32,500/week with Norwich unable to compete with an offer of that scale unless they win promotion to the Premier League.

If he can maintain that sort of strike rate a family reunion could be on the cards although there are bound to be other clubs interested in the 22 year old.
