Newcastle are set to make a move for Lucas Perez.
According to a report in The Sun the out of favour Arsenal striker could be on his way to St James’ Park.
Perez spent a frustrating season on the sidelines last season as Alexis Sanchez dominated the Arsenal front line with Olivier Giroud next in line with Perez sometimes dropping to fourth choice.
Deportivo la Coruna have been the favourites to sign Perez- 12 months after selling the striker to Arsenal- but Newcastle could outbid the La Liga side.
Rafa Benitez has been looking for a striker since missing out on Tammy Abraham and is impressed by Perez despite his struggles last season.
Perez only managed to score seven times last season in an Arsenal shirt but showed his class by grabbing a hat-trick away to Basel in the Champions League- a result that saw them top their group ahead of Paris St Germain.
