Newcastle United are looking to snap up Serdar Tasci.

According to a report in The Chronicle and Turkish site Haber 61 the defender is wanted by both Newcastle and Watford.

Last season Tasci made 18 appearances for Spartak Moscow who are keen to move the defender on after a loan spell at Bayern Munich that resulted in just three top team appearances.

Rafa Benitez has already signed two defenders in Florian Lejeune and Javier Manquillo but is keen on further experienced players to bolster his backline.

Tasci has vast experience from Germany and Russia and offers the sort of value for money that isn’t available in England.

Although bringing in a goalkeeper and a striker are the priority positions Benitez is still looking for players across the board for Newcastle’s return to the top flight with the clock ticking rapidly to the opening match of the season at home to Tottenham Hotspur on August 13.
