The Jacob Murphy saga looks almost over with Norwich accepting a bid from Newcastle of £12.5m.
Late last night The Chronicle reported the breakthrough with the winger expected to join the Newcastle squad in Ireland this morning to undergo a medical.
Murphy was one of the top talents in last season’s Championships and carried that form into the u21 European Championships with England.
Newcastle had an £8m offer rejected before a £10m ‘take it or leave it’ bid brought Norwich to the negotiating table.
After talks went on through the weekend it seems that a deal has been done to the satisfaction of all parties.
Rafa Benitez gets the winger he required while Norwich have turned over a £12m profit on a graduate from their academy.
The completion of the transfer comes less that 24 hours after Rafa Benitez expressed his hope that Mike Ashley would be able to complete the deals they discussed at the end of last season.
