Yoan Gouffran is set to snub a new deal at Newcastle in favour of joining Turkish side Goztepe SK.

According to a report in The Chronicle the forward is in advanced talks about a move to join the side based in the city of Izmir.

Gouffran was out of contract with Newcastle at the end of the season but unlike a number of others he was offered a new deal by Rafa Benitez.

Last season the 31-year-old contributed seven goals despite the clock ticking down on the remainder of his contract.

Although no extra effort was put in to securing the Frenchman he would have been a useful squad member with Newcastle back in the Premier League.

Gouffran was free to sign a pre-contract agreement with any non-English club from January of this year but after some consideration it seems certain that he has played his last game for Newcastle with Goztepe the next stop in his career.
