Arsenal are prepared to sell Lucas Perez for £13.4m.
According to a report in The Standard Arsene Wenger’s price tag is bound to appeal to Rafa Benitez who is desperate to bring in a new striker.
Perez was a £17m signing from Deportivo la Coruna a year ago but sometimes found himself down to fourth choice striker last season at the Emirates.
In his final season with Deportivo he scored 17 goals in 35 matches with those sort of statistics and price tag appealing to Newcastle whose record transfer fee is the £17m paid to Real Madrid for Michael Owen 12 years ago.
A return to Deportivo has been discussed but the Spanish side wouldn’t be able to get close to the strikers wages and keep the rest of his team-mates happy.
Perez has played in the Ukraine as well as Spain and has been linked with AC Milan since it became obvious that things weren’t working out at Arsenal.
