All over for Tim

Tim Krul’s hopes of a return to favour at Newcastle appear to be dead in the water.

Despite proving his match fitness on loan at AZ Alkmaar last season the keeper has been left out of the Newcastle squad that is stepping up their pre-season preparations in Ireland this week.

There is little room for sentiment with Rafa Benitez on the look out for a new keeper and taking Rob Elliot and Freddie Woodman to Ireland.

Despite making more than 150 league appearances for Newcastle and international involvement as recently as at the 2014 World Cup Finals in Brazil the Newcastle door has been closed on Krul at the age of 29.

Reports of interest in Willy Caballero, Joe Hart and Pepe Reina have failed to culminate in a transfer being completed while Karl Darlow seems popular among Championship managers.

With a season left on his contract it looks like Krul will have to sit this season out on the sidelines with Newcastle unlikely to sanction a loan deal unless a hefty fee is paid.
