Newcastle’s bid to sign Florian Lejeune looks like dragging on until next week.

According to a report in the Shields Gazette the deal to sign the Eibar defender looks like dragging on until next week despite apparently being cut and dried.

Newcastle return to training a week on Monday with the signs being that there will be a lack of new faces.

So far only the permanent signing of Christian Atsu has cheered supporters despite the club starting their transfer work as soon as promotion was confirmed.

After Rafa Benitez met Mike Ashley for budget talks there was an expectation of new faces flowing into the club but with two months to go in the transfer window business so far has been slow.

With the Premier League awash with television money, Newcastle, despite the obvious attraction of a top manager are finding that recruitment for a promoted club is never straight forward.
