Newcastle have joined the race to sign Adama Traore.

According to a report in the Daily Mail Rafa Benitez wants to offer the Middlesbrough striker the opportunity to stay in the Premier League.

Traore has been involved in back to back relegations at Aston Villa and Middlesbrough but that hasn’t put Newcastle off with West Ham and Chelsea also interested in the 21-year-old who started his career with Barcelona.

Benitez has struggled to bring in new faces to Newcastle despite attempting to get a few early deals over the line.

Despite his bad luck at Villa and Middlesbrough Traore is highly rated as recognised by the interest from Chelsea.

Newcastle would be able to offer a more realistic prospect of first team football, in the season just finished the 21-year-old started 16 matches and appeared as a substitute in a further 11 games.

It’s believed that Middlesbrough are reluctant to sell Traore although an offer of £10m would return a welcome profit.
