Newcastle midfielder Henri Saivet will return to the club after his loan spell at Saint-Etienne ends, according to But! (via Boursorama).

The French publication report the former Bordeaux player has not done enough this season for manager Christophe Galtier to want the 26 year old to sign on a permanent basis.

Saivet has appeared 28 times in all competitions for Saint-Etienne, scoring one goal and providing two assists. 24 of those 28 games have been starts, and he even started for the Ligue One side yesterday in their 1-1 draw against Nantes, but it seems he will not stay beyond the end of the season.

The Senegalese international joined Newcastle in January 2016 for £5million from Bordeaux but made just four appearances in a Newcastle shirt under both Steve McClaren and Rafa Benitez.

He was loaned to Saint-Etienne in the summer  in view to a permanent return back to France but it seems the Magpies will now need to find other potential suitors.
