Newcastle left back Paul Dummett is hoping the feel good factor that has returned to the Magpies will hold them in good stead if they make the return to the Premier League next season.

The 25 year old says his first few seasons playing for the Magpies were generally not positive experiences, with the club struggling at the wrong end of the table, but he believes after a season of winning matches in the Championship, the positive mentality will carry over after being promoted. He told the Chronicle:

“It’s totally different to being part of a losing team. This season is different because we have been winning most games so the feeling around the club, around the city, everything has been much better. For us, it is just a case of keep winning games. We want to win promotion and then hopefully if we go up, carry on doing the same in the Premier League by winning games.”

The transformation in atmosphere around St James’ Park has been pretty much down to manager Rafa Benitez remaining at the Magpies. With the Spaniard having guided the club to be in reach of an instant return to the top flight, Magpies fans will be hoping the Newcastle boss is given the resources he needs in order to strengthen the squad in the summer, and to make the changes required to compete at the top level.
