The difficulties facing Newcastle United in the January transfer window continue, according to Sky Sports journalist Pete Graves

Having seemingly missed out on every target so far, the Magpies have been strongly linked with moves for Premier League wingers Andros Townsend and Mo Barrow of late, though appear to be struggling to bring either to St. James’ Park so far.

According to Graves, Crystal Palace currently need Townsend as a part of their squad, though are believed to be closing in on a deal for Norwich City’s Robbie Brady, who can operate in similar positions.

Barrow, meanwhile, is understood to be a loan target on Tyneside, though Graves suggests Swansea’s valuation of the Gambian speedster could be a sticking point in getting a deal over the line.

With Rafa Benitez currently light on wide attacking options as a result of Rolando Aarons’ injury and Christian Atu’s exploits with Ghana at the African Cup of Nations, perhaps these deals could drag on until deadline day.
