Newcastle United manager Rafa Benitez will wait and see in regards to making a permanent move for on-loan winger Christian Atsu, according to Ghana Soccer Net.

Currently away on duty with his country at the African Cup of Nations, the Ghanian joined from the Blues this summer on a season-long loan deal.

While the form of Yoan Gouffran largely kept the 24-year-old at bay, he’s proved a popular figure amongst the St. James’ Park faithful over the past few weeks.

In just six starts, the Black Stars ace has notched an impressive three goals, playing key roles in wins over Norwich City, Rotherham and Wigan Athletic.

Still, the report claims the Magpies are set to wait until the end of the season before making any definite decision on whether to make it a more permanent arrangement or not.

It’s likely he’d prove a popular signing should he join properly, though the deal more than likely rests on promotion to the Premier League.
