Newcastle United have moved to sort out the short-term future of promising young forward Adam Armstrong, as they confirmed on their official website

The highly rated 20-year-old has spent the opening half of the season on loan at Championship rivals Barnsley, after previously impressing while on a similar stint with Coventry City last season.

Now, the Magpies have confirmed the England youth international will spend the rest of the campaign at Oakwell, despite the initial agreement running out this month.

He’s notched three goals and registered a further two assists for the Tykes and will now continue his time in Yorkshire until the summer.

He is part of a team currently pushing for the Play-Offs and it’s been confirmed he will be eligible to play in them should Paul Heckingbottom’s side reach them.

Armstrong is one of the most promising young talents to emerge from the club’s ranks in years and surely has a huge future ahead of him in black and white.
