With Newcastle United seemingly hell-bent on securing promotion from the Championship as soon as possible, Rafa Benitez’s side are reaping the rewards of a heavy summer expenditure.
Though many of the big money signings were offset by a number of lucrative player sales made by the Tyneside titans, the Spanish coach drafted in 12 players over the course of the summer.
Sitting pretty at the top of the second-tier, the Toon Army are so far dealing with the pressure of expectancy reasonably well of late.
Still, the expectancy remains prevalent at St. James’ Park.
With that in mind, Sky pundit Danny Higginbotham has revealed during the analysis of Brighton’s game with Bristol City that he believes the North East giants will splash the cash even further.
The former Stoke City defender is seemingly convinced both they and Aston Villa will spend more when January rolls around in order to all but guarantee promotion.
“I think Newcastle are going to spend big, I think Villa will too,” the pundit said (with quotes sourced by HITC).
“I think teams that are up and around there are going to.
When you look at Brighton, you think possible they need another centre-forward.”
