Serie A giants Napoli are reportedly eyeing up a potential move for Newcastle United forward Aleksandar Mitrovic in January in an effort to further replace Gonzalo Higuain.

I Ciucciarelli signed Arkadiusz Milik as a replacement, though the Polish international has since suffered a long-term injury, leaving the Italians a little short up front.

Now, according to the Daily Mirror, they are thought to be ready to test the Magpies with an £18m offer when January rolls around.

The Serbian is a hugely popular figure on Tyneside despite a difficult first season, during which the former Anderlecht man notched just nine times in black and white.

Fit and firing again this season, the form of teammate Dwight Gayle has limited his first-team appearances during Rafa Benitez’s Championship campaign.

Still, he’s been in decent form when called upon, recently bagging four goals in two games against Preston.

Currently, the Toon Army are under no pressure to sell any of their top stars as Benitez looks to restore Premier League status to St. James’ Park.
