Newcastle were among a number of clubs watching Racing Genk’s match against Sassuolo on Thursday night to see young winger Leon Bailey, according to Simon Jones in the Daily Mail.

The Jamaican starlet has been attracting interest from a number of high profile clubs, and along with the Magpies, Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Leicester City and Sunderland were all at the Europa League match last week.

The 19 year old scored as Genk beat Sassuolo 3-1 and would have no doubt have made a good impression on those watching on. Bailey is somewhat controversial figure due to the actions of his previous agent (which you can read about here).

He has been close to joining both Ajax and Chelsea in the past but has been content to learn the ropes in Belgium’s Jupiler League with Genk for the past 18 months He may now be considering a switch to make the next step in his promising career.
