Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden says he wasn’t at all upset about being sidelined for the last two league matches, and was determined to make an impression when he was recalled for the starting lineup for the match against Barnsley by Rafa Benitez last night.

Magpies central midfielder Jack Colback replaced Hayden for the victories against Rotherham United and Brentford, but Hayden played his part as Newcastle fought for a well earned 2-0 win at Oakwell last night. He told the club’s official website that it is important that nobody sulks if they are left out of the side:

“Everyone’s on board, and that’s what I think the main thing is at the moment at the football club – everybody is on board, and if anyone’s not playing, they’re not sulking. Everyone’s pulling in the right direction, and training really well and really hard.”

One of the key reasons that Rafa Benitez is keeping a 27 man first team squad happy at the moment is because of the rotation policy. Currently everybody feels that they have a chance to play and proves themselves. That might change though if some players, like Dwight Gayle for example, are in such good form that they become undroppable.
