Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez has told fans that he will not allow Moussa Sissoko to leave St James’ Park unless the right offer which protects Newcastle’s best interests is made for the 26 year old.

Real Madrid are believed to be interested in the France international according to the English media although it must be said it is very quiet on the Spanish media side of things with neither Madrid papers Marca nor AS believing that Real are even considering a bid for the player. No club has so far bid for Sissoko with the price tag of £35million believed to be the main problem for many prospective buying clubs. Benitez told BBC Radio Newcastle (quotes via the Shields Gazette) that Sissoko won’t be allowed to go on the cheap:

“I have talked with his agent. (Newcastle managing director) Lee Charnley is aware of everything. We are doing what we have to do to protect Newcastle United. If he stays, it will be fine. If he goes because we have the right offer, it will be good too.”

At the moment it is looking more likely that Sissoko will stay rather than leave St James’s Park although that may change if Paul Pogba’s move to Manchester United goes through and Juventus seek Sissoko as a replacement.
