Newcastle United are targeting former Bayern Munich and Croatia forward Ivica Olic, according to Bild. The German newspaper has also linked the 36 year old with a move to fellow Championship side Aston Villa and Bundesliga 2 club 1860 Munich.
The Croatian international announced his retirement from professional football at the end of last season after leaving Bundesliga side Hamburg six months into an 18 month contract. Bild however believes that the forward could be tempted out of a retirement for the right club with the Magpies, Villa and 1860 all looking at the possibility of signing him.
Olic has made 104 appearances for his country and has made over 400 appearances in senior football, scoring 133 goals. During his career Olic has played for CSKA Moscow, Wolfsburg, Bayern Munich and Hamburg on two occasions, and according to Bild he may prefer to stay in Germany to keep his family settled rather than move to a new country.
