Liverpool expect to finalise the deal to sign Georginio Wijnaldum from Newcastle by Wednesday, according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Reds have flown out for their preseason tour of the United States but they are hopeful of signing the Dutch international before their first International Champions Cup match against Chelsea on July 27th so he can make his debut.
Newcastle and Liverpool are believed to have agreed a £25million fee plus addons for Wijnaldum, but the 25 year old will need to undergo a medical before he signs and is allowed to join up with his new teammates in Pasadena, California where the friendly match between the two Premier League teams will take place.
Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez told reporters after the Magpies’ 2-2 draw against Doncaster Rovers last night that there had been no developments regarding Wijnaldum’s transfer but things have moved at pace this morning with a fee widely reported to have been agreed between the two clubs.
