Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden believes he has already learned a great deal from new manager Rafa Benitez, despite only joining the club from Arsenal two weeks ago.

The 21 year old signed a five year contact at St James’ Park after sealing a move from the Gunners and despite working under Arsene Wenger and his coaching staff for the best part of three years, he told the Evening Chronicle that he has had a footballing education with Rafa and is keen to learn more:

“It’s brilliant – he’s very hands on and he loves to coach a lot. I’ve already learned a hell of a lot in the two weeks I’ve been here. For me it’s just about learning even more and trying to help the team as much as I can.”

His former manager Arsene Wenger revealed earlier this week he believed Hayden needed a move away from Arsenal for the good of his career. The midfielder made 18 appearances on loan at Hull City in the Championship last season, making nine starts under Steve Bruce as he helped them gain promotion back to the Premier League. He will be hoping to help the Magpies to do the same this season.
