Newcastle and SunderlandNewcastle United put in a pretty drab performance against West Ham in their first match at St James’ Park of the 2013/14 Premier League season, but surely the Magpies weren’t so bad that we looked like Sunderland?

In a rather funny and unfortunate error made by the Mirror in the Sunday edition of their paper, they put Sunderland’s club logo in place of Newcastle’s when listing the Premier League results from yesterday.

Now, I know they must have thought that if a team failed to score at home then it would have been the Black Cats, but you’d have thought that if two club logos would get mixed up, it wouldn’t be Newcastle and Sunderland given the ill-feeling between the teams’ sets of fans.

I’m not sure how the paper thought it could have been Sunderland playing at home against West Ham given that the attendance was 49,622, surely the Stadium of Light has never held that many people?

Both teams have actually made equally poor starts to the season, with neither having recorded a win in their opening two fixtures, but whereas Newcastle have hardly made any signings, Sunderland have pretty much a whole new team.

Bring on Sunday 27th October, the next Tyne-Wear derby…

Not sure either team has reason to gloat ? I think its time Sunderland fans concentrated on Sunderland and Newcastle fans on Newcastle and stop this unhealthy obsession with the neighbours !!! School yard name calling is not big or clever ! Both teams need to improve ASAP or it is going to be a long old season……the derby is just one game……..or two if you like…….it doesn’t make or break a season ! Get your own house in order before laughing at others….that goes for BOTH teams.

I see people slagging each other off on here, but the spelling and grammar is so bad it’s enough to tell me you’re all a bit thick. It’s no surprise though. However, SAFC going through a massive transformation period…Newcastle doing pretty much nothing to change what’s become a shambles of a team and club. That’s not an opinion, that’s fact.

  • stevetoon says:

Yes Sunderland are in a transformation period… When they come out of it they will be in the championship!!! They haven’t played anyone yet and got one point Southampton battered them!!!!have you seen they’re next 7 home games!!!! And they rarely win away!!! Id be very worried if I didn’t hate them as much!!
