The wait is nearly over for the start of Newcastle United’s 2012/13 Premier League campaign, and if the reserve match is anything to go by, then the game between Newcastle and Tottenham will be an absolute cracker.

There were ten goals this afternoon as Newcastle Reserves and Tottenham Reserves went head-to-head, with Adam Campbell the star of the show again, as the Spurs defenders were left chasing his shadow for most of the match.

Alan Pardew will be hoping that the senior side start as well as the U21s, as the Newcastle Reserves raced into a 4-1 lead after just 20 minutes.

Goals from new signing Curtis Good, Haris Vuckic and a brace from Adam Campbell, but Newcastle away and clear, with the 17-year-old completing his hat-trick before the break.

The second half was a tighter affair, but Brad Inman still managed to grab a sixth goal for the young side led by right back James Tavernier.

Campbell is likely to get a run out for Newcastle against Atromitos in their Europa League qualifier next week, and Pardew will have been pleased with what he saw this afternoon.

Unfortunately, Newcastle’s U18s lost to Tottenham U18s, so going in to the main event there’s only one result that ultimately matters.

Come on Newcastle!
