Dutchman Vurnon Anita will have to wait for his Newcastle United debut in the Premier League against Tottenham Hotspur at St James’ Park this evening as Newcastle manager Alan Pardew put his new signing on the bench.

Newcastle will also be without their captain Fabricio Coloccini after the Argentine international was ruled out through injury, meaning that his compatriot Jonas Gutierrez will take the armband as Newcastle’s captain.

James Perch will deputise in the centre of the Newcastle defence alongside the retuning Steven Taylor, who himself missed much of last season through injury.
