So, Joey Barton has been placed on the transfer list and is available on a free after the Newcastle board were less than receptive to his continuing tweets.
Something was going to happen today after Barton tweeted this morning: “I will be making an announcement regarding my future, on here at 4pm today……..”
The Newcastle board beat him to it though and released this statement this afternoon: “Newcastle United can confirm that Joey Barton has been placed on the transfer list today (Monday). The player has been advised that he can leave the club on a free transfer.”
So, Barton went back to Twitter to let his thoughts be known, saying: “Somewhere in those high echelons of NUFC, they have decided, I am persona non grata.”
Barton now has no future at Newcastle under the current regime; he’s still proud to play for Newcastle but whether he will do again is another question.
The Newcastle midfielder continued to stick the knife in on Twitter: “I am on a free but the honour of wearing those B+W stripes, surpasses that. One day the board might realise, what the shirt signifies. HONOUR and PRIDE. Thanks for your continued support………..”
At least he’s right about one thing, playing for Newcastle and wearing the Newcastle shirt should be an honour and an achievement that fills you with pride. The way things are going, fewer and fewer top class players will be wearing that shirt.

It has been said before, and I’ll say it again. The only way to force Mike Ashley to leave is to boycott the club. That won’t happen, support the lads blah blah ! He know he ca do anything he likes , because the muppet fans will always turn up on match day.
We need a V For Vendetta kind of stand.
