Newcastle: Imagine Sadio Mane on Tyneside

German champions Bayern Munich are hoping that Newcastle United will act upon their ostensible interest in 31-year-old forward Sadio Mane and complete a swoop for the ace this summer.

Newcastle are in for first-rate reinforcements after qualifying for the Champions League this season, and with the £300m PIF takeover paving a sturdy foundation for future success, players of Mane’s ilk could now put pen to paper with the Magpies.

According to Fussball Transfers, the Bavarian bosses ‘rely’ on the affluence of the Magpies to entice the Senegalese phenom into returning to the Premier League, with his £35m move from Liverpool last summer playing out inauspiciously.

An injury-hit beginning to life in the Bundesliga was compounded later on during an incensed fallout between Mane and teammate Leroy Sane, with manager Thomas Tuchel now directing Mane towards the exit door.

By manager Eddie Howe’s own admission, Newcastle will refrain from targeting typical ‘marquee’ deals this summer, instead trusting the process which has crafted this early success and working with astute care on the market to glean shrewd talents.

However, now that qualification for next years Champions League edition has indeed been secured, exceptions to this rule could bob to the surface.

The Tyneside club have waded through murky waters to reach this newfound prominent position, but the club’s stature could present Mane with the perfect package, with a flanker desired by Howe and co as they prepare to cement their position next term.
