Eddie Howe has confirmed Fabian Schar is fit despite suffering a knock during Newcastle’s draw with Manchester United on Sunday.

Allan Saint-Maximin and Alexander Isak remain injured after suffering setbacks while on the comeback trail, with the former out “for a while” and the latter not expected to play again until after the World Cup. There has been some good news of late, however, with Jonjo Shelvey fit enough for the bench at Old Trafford.

Given the schedule, having played on Sunday and traveling to Tottenham just for a game just four days later, Howe will surely look to rotate where possible.

Previously, the head coach has changed the centre-backs around, with Jamaal Lascelles and Dan Burn coming in for the loss away at Liverpool during the last intense run of games, with Matt Targett occupying Burn’s place at left-back.

Still, a home game against Everton offers another great chance to pick up three points, so perhaps its more likely to see rotation come into play at Spurs on Sunday.

“When you have the three game week like we are in the middle of now, every day you wake up and feel better for a night’s sleep,” said Howe (via Lee Ryder).

“Hopefully everybody will be OK but we wait and see.”
