The presence of Newcastle United forward Andy Carroll has given the dressing room a massive boost this season, according to Lee Ryder.
The Chronicle journalist shared that him being available to Steve Bruce has seen him add a new dimension to a squad that is seriously lacking leaders and big personalities in the Premier League.
Ryder revealed how Newcastle didn’t pay any money to bring the experienced forward to St James’ Park, and that the Magpies are already quietly benefitting from the summer move.
“However, Newcastle didn’t pay a penny in terms of a transfer fee and his presence alone has boosted a dressing room that was lacking leaders and big personalities,” he wrote in the Chronicle.
Carroll arrived at the club with an injury and has only managed game time off the bench so far this season.

The 30-year-old Magpies’ man knows everything it means to play for his boyhood club. The Geordie forward has come back in and clearly had a big effect on his teammates – helping players such as Joelinton settle in at St James’ Park and more importantly the Premier League. Carroll’s experience will be vital should Newcastle be in a relegation battle come to towards the end of the season, and when he is fully fit and capable of starting games, Bruce will surely start to reap the rewards off the colossal forward on the pitch. The summer saw Newcastle undergo a transitional period in the final third, with last year’s hero’s Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez leaving the club to be replaced by Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin. Carroll also arrived and his career in the Premier League will have been vital to them settling into the rhythm of things moving forward in England.
