Newcastle attend scouting conference

Newcastle United had representatives in attendance at the Wyscout Forum in Amsterdam last week, according to the Chronicle.

The event is billed as the number one event in football for transfer negotiations, and was held at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

As explained in a piece by the local outlet: “Club to club networking and conferences took place on the first day of the two-day event in Amsterdam while the second day was dedicated to club-to-agent talks.

“In a speed dating style setting, Newcastle were able to set up 15-minute meetings in advance through an online agenda, which was available before the event started.”

This is good news for the Toon Army, surely. If one thing has become apparent during the opening stages of this season, it is that Newcastle are in need of stability on the pitch. From one week to the next it is nigh on impossible to tell which Magpies side is going to show up, and if there is an opportunity to bring in some fresh faces who can sure things up this January, then it should absolutely be taken. This kind of conference feels like a fairly modern way of doing things, and it’s good to see United move with the times. If they are to conduct business in the most effective way possible, getting good quality and good value, then this could be the best way to ensure that that happens. Nothing is set in stone, and that’s especially true when Mike Ashley is involved in something, but this is a promising sign.
