Reliable journalist Beren Cross has revealed that Leeds United stand no chance of signing Newcastle United forward Dwight Gayle.
The Leeds Live correspondent claimed that the Financial Fair Play would be obliterated by the Whites if they were to complete a move for the 29-year-old from St James’ Park.
“As for Gayle, no chance,” he wrote in a Q&A on Tuesday (29/10 1:34 pm).
“Financial Fair Play would be obliterated.”
Gayle has recently returned to the first-team fold for the Magpies under Steve Bruce, coming off the bench against both Chelsea and Wolves in the final 10 minutes of each Premier League clash.
The Chronicle have reported that the Magpies will listen to realistic offers for Gayle in the January transfer window, despite Steve Bruce wanting to utilise him.

It appears that Bruce and Newcastle would be happy with either verdict regarding the future of Gayle this season. Either the 29-year-old is sold and will leave St James’ Park, or he will continue to be utilised in the Premier League – there doesn’t seem to be any chance that the forward could be forced out of the club in a similar situation to what is happening to players such as Jack Colback at this moment in time. The Magpies forward has always been admired by Bruce throughout his career, and that could have a big saying on what happens in the future. At least the future is a little bit clearer now it is common knowledge that Leeds will not be one of the clubs queuing up to secure his signature, a big blow to the Championship club who have clearly been having struggles in front of goal, and something that could see Gayle return to his former side West Brom in the second half of the season.
