Newcastle United forward starlet Elias Sorensen will have been hoping for a better loan spell this season compared to his nightmare spell at Blackpool.
The exciting Danish forward only made one appearance at Bloomfield Road despite joining the Tangerines for the final two months of the season.
Sorensen has dropped into League Two for senior football this season, completing a loan move to Carlisle as he looks to improve his first-team chances at St James’ Park.
The 20-year-old completed his first 90 minutes for the Cumbrians on Tuesday evening in the EFL Trophy, as they were beaten 4-2 by Wolves under-21s at Brunton Park.
Newcastle have intervened with his loan move, with the Chronicle claiming that the Magpies are looking for a positive agreement with Carlisle over more minutes after his past nightmare move.
The newspaper claimed that Newcastle are of the belief that Sorensen needs consistent minutes in League Two, and could have earned the same amount of game time in the EFL Trophy back in their academy.
Loan manager, Shola Ameobi has held numerous conversations with Carlisle manager Stephen Pressley recently as he looks to come to a solution to give Sorensen more opportunities.
It is time for Ameobi to prove his worth at the Magpies, with many people surely questioning what his actual job is at St James’ Park.
Playing for Newcastle under-23s, Sorensen has excelled in the past seasons, scoring 16 goals and adding a couple of assists in 27 appearances.
Carlisle have struggled in the league so far since Sorensen arrived, only winning two games and scoring eight in the run of games whilst he has been at the club.
Pressley must be scratching his head for answers, and the exciting Magpies’ starlet could be the answer, and Ameobi must make him realise that playing Sorensen could lead to more benefits.
Ameobi must prove his worth in his new role, and start by convincing Carlisle to give Sorensen the minutes he needs at this stage of his career.
Then it’s just up to the young Magpies to justify staying on the pitch.
