Another weekend has delivered another disappointing result for Newcastle United.

This was the worst scoreline of them all, as the Magpies crashed to an embarrassing 5-0 defeat against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium – on an afternoon where nothing went right for Steve Bruce.

Isaac Hayden was sent off in the first half and things continued to go downhill from there, as the Foxes ruthlessly tore the away side apart in front of a passionate away following.

What was made even more clear on Sunday, was the fact that they are crying out for goalscoring options in the North East, as the defeat made it three games in seven that they hadn’t scored in.

The Magpies have yet to score more than one goal in a single game in the Premier League and sit in the relegation zone after only picking up three points on a single occasion.

It was reported in the summer by the Daily Mail, that Newcastle were in the hunt for former Manchester United starlet, Mipo Odubeko after he rejected a fresh deal with the Red Devils.

The 16-year-old scored 35 goals last season and could have made a real impact if given the chance to impress in the senior squad in this campaign, with Bruce really not having anything to lose after his start to life in charge.

Those chances seem to be evaporating quickly though, with 90min reporting that Premier League rivals West Ham United have entered talks with the teen sensation and are confident of securing a deal with the teenager.

Newcastle are in a position where they are screaming out for a striker who can score goals in their side, and despite his young age, Odubeko could have been that player, with Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus all interested.

The calibre of clubs that are queuing up for his signature highlights how he is a sensation, and to score 35 goals in a single season at any level is no easy feat and Newcastle would surely kick themselves should the Hammers snap him up.

Newcastle are surely set to miss out on the forward sensation, with West Ham now in pole position, Bruce will be kicking himself should they see him move to another Premier League side.
