Darren Huckerby has slammed Newcastle United for their display against Norwich City on Saturday, claiming their fans deserve much better.

The former Leeds and Norwich forward claimed that his former side dominated the clash from start to finish at Carrow Road and were fully deserved of the 3-1 scoreline in the end.

Huckerby took to his personal Twitter account after the game to share his verdict and slated Newcastle for their showing.

“Brilliant performance from Norwich dominate from start to finish, Newcastle were poor, Newcastle fans deserve better,” he wrote.

It was a Teemu Pukki hattrick that downed the Magpies, who failed to create many clear cut chances and were sliced through at times in their midfield.

OPINION

Huckerby is spot on with his verdict – Newcastle fans deserve much more than what their side have given them in the opening two weeks of the Premier League. The Magpies could be forgiven for their display against Arsenal in the opening weekend, as they toiled hard to try and force a result but ultimately came up short against a side that is simply better. Having said that, there was no excuse for what happened at Carrow Road on Saturday, it was Newcastle who looked like the newly-promoted side, and they were exploited – mainly down to the fact that Steve Bruce set up his side completely wrong. For more than a year now, the Canaries have relied heavily on Pukki and their attacking midfield behind him, and Bruce set up as if he had never seen that. His midfield three were completed out of position, and they were made to pay consistently throughout the game in which they could have easily have conceded more.
