OPINION

Newcastle United defender Paul Dummett posted a humourous tweet on his personal Twitter account on Monday, showing a photograph of him with his Man of the Match award for Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, alongside the caption: ‘Warm up was good this week’. The caption was clearly a reference to the player’s controversial comments after Steve Bruce’s side’s defeat to Norwich City las time out, where he complained that even the warm up from the Newcastle players was bad prior to the Canaries clash. His remarks were completely misconstrued and taken out of context, to be used as fuel for the anti-Bruce agenda that has infected certain sections of the Toon Army. The Newcastle supporters, though, seemed to love both Dummett’s tweet and his performance on Sunday. They certainly have reason to be over the moon with the latter, because the Welsh international was simply superb against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
