Many Newcastle United fans fumed on social media after reading Sun journalist Alan Nixon’s update on the club’s transfer business. The national journalist stated on his personal Twitter account that the Magpies were currently working their way down their list of transfer targets, and added that it wasn’t an easy task. This update incensed a section of Magpies supporters as one claimed it was embarrassing, while another shared that they thought Newcastle were destined to be relegated. When you consider that there are only nine days left of the transfer window, it’s easy to see why Magpies fans are fuming. Newcastle should be in the process of wrapping up deals, rather than still working down their shortlist. The Magpies have only made one signing, as they brought Brazilian forward Joelinton to St James Park in a deal thought to be worth £40million (Source: BBC), but it’s clear they need more players to arrive. After all the Magpies no longer have Ayoze Perez, who scored 13 goals last season, and Salomon Rondon, who scored 12 last season, on their books and Steve Bruce surely can’t be expecting Joelinton to cover their loss all by himself.
